Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football scholarship and community service. The first line of his family was that his father was the youngest of nine kids raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. Two football. He was one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975, and was selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service was ten-hours per week of volunteer time in college. Then he settled in Tampa following college. He playing for the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and played three times in the all-pro league. His business career began. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team throughout 1975. He was promoted to the associate director of Athletics at University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player as a member in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
