Fawn MCK Brodie was born on the 15th of September 1915 at Ogden Utah. Fawn, a member of the Mormon church's most prestigious family, was able to combine her literary talents and exceptional research abilities into an outstanding biography of Joseph Smith. No Man was aware of My History appeared in 1945. This title is derived from a funeral speech delivered by the founder of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1844, when he shocked the congregation with his words: You don't know me you never knew my heart. Nobody has heard of my life. In reality I'm not even sure. Fawn (29 year old) wrote that since her moment of candor, three-hundred writers have risen to the event. A lot of them have denigrated him and some have deified him; some have even tried their hands at diagnosing him. The problem isn't that documents are lacking the issue is that they are fiercely contradictory. It is a difficult task to put together these documents, separating first-hand accounts from copies that are third-hand and integrating Mormon narratives with non-Mormon ones into a coherent collage. I find it both fascinating as well as eye-opening. FawnBrodie took on this professional project with gusto and enthusiasm. Her work in research and writing earned her fame all over the world.
